Precast Concrete Benefits For Residental Construction
In general, concrete buildings offer many advantages over their wood-frame(sticks) and brick counterparts. However, Precast Insulated Concrete panel construction offers additional benefits that make it an even more attractive option.

Environmental Aspects

Concrete is an environmentally friendly material that is in abundance and doesn't add to climate change concerns.

In contrast, building with wood requires continuing deforestation which in turns reduces air quality among many other negative impact factors.

Energy Efficiency

Our precast insulated concrete multifamily apartments are more energy efficient because the walls absorb heat and then slowly release it throughout the day and overnight. In addition, the R value of the insulation material used is typically much higher than what's required for traditional stick and brick building.

Durability

Precast Insulated concrete construction is exceptionally durable and isn't as vulnerable to many of the problems wood-frame homes face from natural disasters like hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes.  In addition, ICP construction is more fire resistant, more sound proof, and offers pest resistance that wood frame and brick construction can't offer.

Compared to stick-built construction, ICP construction requires less maintenance with no need to worry about rot and are highly resistant to impact, abrasion, weathering and corrosion.

Construction Time

ICP construction components are manufactured off-site in a controlled facility and once complete, the precast products are delivered and assembled on-site. In most cases, our ICP multifamily apartment homes can be ready for move-in after just 60-90 days, or sometimes even less. By comparison, it can take one to two years or more to complete construction on a stick-built apartment complex.

Open Floorplans

With the right planning for precast insulated concrete panel products, it’s possible to build without columns and beams for a truly open floor plan. Having an open floor plan also provides more possibilities, allowing SCDC to create a layouts that complements residents' and tenants' lifestyles.

Aesthetics

Many builders and developers steer away from concrete construction because of the assumption that a gray, unwelcoming exterior is the only option. But carefully planned concrete construction can look just as good or better than traditional custom construction and offer a natural fit for the modern design aesthetics.
