After completing high school in Houston, Odell Abdur-Raheem attended the University of Houston to study accounting and computer programming, but his entrepreneurial drive quickly led him into the business world. Success found him early; his talent as a salesman earned him the title of youngest assistant store manager for a national company at just 18 years old. Within a remarkable eight months, he was promoted again, becoming the youngest store manager in the company's history at age 19, a role that honed his skills in leadership and business operations.
Shortly after, he joined his mother in a family-owned personal injury claims firm. It was the financial success from this enterprise that provided the capital for his initial launch into real estate investing in his early twenties, igniting a lifelong passion. This first taste of property ownership revealed both the immense potential for wealth creation and the frustrating inefficiencies inherent in the traditional system. It was here that the seeds of a bigger idea were planted: what if the entire process could be re-engineered for simplicity, accessibility, and greater value for all involved?

Each successful start-up and investment was another piece of the puzzle, providing the deep, cross-disciplinary knowledge required to ultimately answer that question and build a truly integrated solution.
To answer that question, Mr. Abdur-Raheem embarked on a deliberate, 39+ year mission to achieve hands-on mastery across nine distinct but interwoven industries. From architectural design and construction to finance, sales, and large-scale business management, he methodically acquired the comprehensive knowledge needed to understand the real estate value chain from every possible angle. This was not a series of jobs; it was a real-world R&D project to deconstruct a broken system, piece by piece.
This journey was one of both "immense success and catastrophic failure," with each experience serving as a crucial lesson in what works, what doesn't, and why. He learned firsthand the pain points of developers, the frustrations of investors, the limitations of builders, and the needs of communities. He saw how the fragmented nature of the industry created unnecessary costs, delays, and risks, preventing most people from ever participating in one of the most powerful wealth-building tools on the planet.
After decades of real-world experience, the answer became clear. Distilling the wisdom of leadership icons like Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie with the systems-thinking of innovators like W. Edwards Deming, our founder arrived at a foundational conclusion: the most valuable resource on Earth isn't a commodity, but humanity itself. He realized the solution wasn't to fix one part of the industry, but to build an entirely new, integrated system centered around this principle. Thus, S.H.A.R.E. - Supplying Humanity with Achievements, Resources, & Education, was born. It was a commitment to architecting a business that would transcend mere profit-making by measuring its success on its ability to fundamentally enhance the lives of its partners and customers.
The initial vision for S.H.A.R.E. Community Development Corp was forged in the aftermath of disaster. After witnessing firsthand the devastating destruction of hurricanes along the Gulf Coast, our founder was struck by a powerful observation: in ravaged island nations, the simple concrete homes were often the only structures left standing.
This insight led to the original incorporation of SCDC in 2004 as a non-profit, with the mission to build resilient, low-income single-family homes out of concrete.
During this period, he leveraged the expertise from his successful home building, investment, and mortgage companies to develop the framework for this non-profit venture. Unfortunately, the broader economic collapse of the 2008 housing market made the project unviable at the time, forcing this visionary concept to be paused before it could be fulfilled.
Over 15 years later, the new SCDC was incorporated in February of 2022 as a for-profit corporation with a purpose to develop new insulated concrete panel construction multifamily apartment communities. This idea stemmed from the additional knowledge and experience that our founder gained after moving into the multifamily field following the economic collapse of the banks and sub-prime mortgage companies in 2008.
